With decades of experience in satellite navigation, Indra Space has played a decisive role in the development and evolution of EGNOS, Galileo, and now the emerging LEO-PNT constellations.
From space-qualified receivers and ground stations to advanced interference detection systems and anti-jamming technologies, Indra delivers comprehensive solutions that ensure accuracy, integrity, and resilience in satellite-based navigation.
Indra Space has been a key industrial partner of the European Galileo programme since its inception, actively contributing to its design, development, and evolution towards the Second Generation (G2G).
As a prime contractor, Indra Space has designed, deployed, and continues to maintain some of the most critical infrastructures within the system’s mission and control segments, including:
- 15 Sensor Stations (GSS) that collect and validate Galileo signals worldwide
- 20 Uplink Stations (ULS) that transmit navigation data to the satellites
- 7 TT&C Stations enabling continuous control and monitoring of the constellation
This global network, strategically located, ensures robust performance and reliability for Europe’s flagship navigation system..
In the Public Regulated Service (PRS) domain, Indra leads the secure platform POCP-S 2S, which connects all EU Member States to Galileo’s PRS infrastructure.
Additionally, Indra develops the software for Key Management and Security Modules (PKMF) and the key management system used by the Galileo Security Monitoring Centre (GSMC-S), ensuring encrypted and resilient communications across the entire network.
At the Galileo Mission Centre, Indra Space leads the development of several real-time systems essential for the constellation’s performance:
- Message Generation Facility (MGF): Builds the navigation messages transmitted to users
- Mission Support Facility (MSF): Generates reference orbits and clocks offline
- Key Management Facility (MKMF): Secures uplink communications with satellites
These systems are critical to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of every Galileo signal.
Indra Space co-manages the European GNSS Service Centre (E-GSC), which serves as the main interface between the Galileo system and civil users.
The centre supports both Open Service (OS) and High Accuracy Service (HAS) users, providing continuous performance monitoring and service information.
Beyond its role in Galileo, Indra Space designs and delivers next-generation GNSS receivers and anti-jamming technologies for government and defence clients worldwide.
These solutions provide secure and resilient positioning even in degraded or contested environments, ensuring mission continuity against interference, spoofing, or cyberattacks.
Key offerings include:
- Space GNSS receivers, such as G3Star, capable of using Galileo’s High Accuracy Service (HAS) in orbit
- Performance monitoring systems that detect and mitigate signal anomalies
- Advanced anti-jamming technologies for robust protection in critical operations
One of the standout innovations is Navishield, an advanced GNSS protection solution equipped with a next-generation CRPA antenna.
Navishield ensures the integrity of navigation signals — including Galileo PRS, Galileo OS, GPS, and others — safeguarding them against interference or spoofing attempts and guaranteeing reliable PNT data for critical operations.

As a prime contractor for one of the LEO-PNT projects, Indra is building four satellites and the entire ground segment for a constellation that will demonstrate how LEO satellites can complement traditional GNSS systems by providing:
- Higher signal power
- Lower latency
- Greater resilience against interference and spoofing
These capabilities are essential for next-generation secure PNT services.

Indra Space also plays a key role in ESA’s Moonlight initiative, collaborating with NASA LUNAR NET to define the future framework for lunar navigation and communications, including the development of the Message Generation Facility (MGF), which will enable interoperable services on the Moon.
